CAPA - Creative & Performing Arts

The CAPA faculty is dedicated to developing students' capacity to make, perform, and appreciate the arts, empowering them to apply their imagination through transferable skills relevant to both professional and everyday contexts.

CAPA students are challenged to raise important questions, through their engagement with Music, Drama and Visual Arts, where they explore significant cultural, social and artistic traditions, recognising their relevance in contemporary society. Through equitable and inclusive approaches to teaching and learning, all students are supported to develop craftmanship in the Arts, expressed through the creation of increasingly sophisticated and conceptually rigorous practical and written works.

We strive to foster excellence in the Arts by supporting students to develop technical skill, creative confidence and conceptual depth in all aspects of their work. Through the making and appreciation of art, music and theatre students engage with fundamental aspects of the human condition cultivating empathy, critical thinking and open-mindedness. In doing so CAPA prepares students to contribute thoughtfully and creatively within their communities and to navigate the complexities of a changing world.

We offer the following subjects as part of the curriculum:

  • Music
  • Visual Arts
  • Drama

In Stage 4, (Years 7 and 8) students study mandatory courses in Music and Visual Arts.  We also offer Drama to our incoming Year 7 students.  From Year 9 – 12 all CAPA subjects are offered as electives, with a strong tradition of academic excellence in our HSC subjects Drama, Music and Visual Arts.
