Stage 5
Building on the work from Stage 4, in Years 9 and 10, the emphasis is on a deeper understanding and greater application of science in the real world. Students are also required to plan many of their own investigations, justify their techniques and procedures and analyse their results. Modern technologies including Geiger counters, data loggers, probes, oscilloscopes, microscopes, telescopes and computers are used to increase students' observations and understanding of the world around them. A major component of this stage is effective communication of the findings of their own research and independent investigations.
Stage 5 students can also elect to study marine science.
